What it does

Edit & annotate

Edit text directly on the page. Highlights, underlines, strikethrough, sticky notes, free text, ink, shapes, arrows and stamps are standards-compliant, so other PDF apps can read them.

True redaction

Text is removed from the document, not covered with a black box. Whoever you send it to cannot copy the hidden text back out.

Organize pages

Merge, split, extract, delete, reorder, duplicate, rotate, crop and insert blank pages. Split by bookmarks, and compress with a before/after size report.

Forms & bookmarks

Fill forms, create new fields (text, checkbox, dropdown), flatten to lock what was entered, and edit bookmarks freely.

Search & OCR

Fast search with highlighted results. OCR scanned documents in a fast or a high-accuracy mode, in several languages including Japanese. Deskew crooked scans.

Japanese vertical text

Vertical Japanese text (tategaki) is detected and extracted in the correct reading order. Detection works from the glyphs on the page, so a page with very little text — or a layout where the direction is genuinely ambiguous — is treated as horizontal.

Convert

Export to images (PNG / JPG / TIFF), Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx), and turn images into PDFs.

Compare two PDFs

Compare with both a text diff and a visual diff, so you can see exactly what changed between two versions.

Digital signatures

Certificate-based signing with a Japanese My Number Card (JPKI) or a certificate file (.pfx / .p12), so later tampering can be detected.

Trusted timestamping (RFC 3161)

Get and verify RFC 3161 timestamps from a third-party authority. Only the document's hash is sent — never the document itself. Japanese Denchoho compliance depends on your whole record-keeping setup, not on timestamps alone, so this feature does not make a system compliant by itself.

On-device AI

Summarize, chat and translate run entirely on your own machine. Documents are not sent to any external service. All optional.

Tabs & Japanese UI

Open several PDFs in tabs and switch between light and dark themes. Menus and dialogs are available in English and Japanese; a few status messages are still English only.

Your documents stay with you

  • Fully offline by default. No sign-in, no account, no license activation, no telemetry, no ads.
  • The documents you edit never leave your machine. There is no cloud upload and no background communication.
  • The only outbound connections are ones you trigger yourself — downloading OCR data, and requesting a trusted timestamp, which sends the document's hash and never its contents.
  • AI features run on your device. Nothing is sent to an external AI service to summarize, chat or translate.
